Fall Obsessions

So winter is quickly approaching but before it does I had to share some things that have made me happy over the Fall, my obsessions if you will. So let’s get into it. First obsession for me is liquid lipstick, and my newest love is Dose of Colors liquid lipsticks the shade I own is called Brick and its to die for. The colour goes on so smoothly and stays put all day without transferring, I couldn’t recommend it more.

Now anyone who knows me will tell you this but I’m addicted to caffeine, I am literally the grumpiest ball of hate when I haven’t had a coffee. And usually I’d go to Starbucks to fill this craving (Vanilla Chai Tea Latte is life) but lately having been at uni every day and not having too much money to spend I’ve been finding myself going to our campus Costa much more, leading me to develop an unhealthy obsession with Costa Hazelnut Americanos. I’ve found now that I’m out of the house more often I love taking my coffee and sitting in my local park. My park is pretty big lots to do with plenty of benches to sit and either sit by the fountain to watch the squirrels or walk round the other side to watch the swans.

Costa coffee to keep me warm whilst watching the squirrels play in Albert Park

Last two things that I’ve been completely obsessed with this Fall go hand in hand or at least for me they do and that’s the Rain and my new Harry Potter bedding. There’s literally nothing better to me than climbing into my Harry Potter bedding after a long day at uni and listening to the rain clatter against the window, it’s so peaceful and helps me fall asleep. Pair it with a good book and a nice scented candle and what more could anyone ask for.

So what things have you been obsessed with this Fall? Let me know in the comments below.

Sleek Bad Girl Palette Review

So lately I’ve been really into eyeshadow, I usually go for a nude or brown smokey eye but I came across this palette in my local Boots for only £8.99 and fell in love with the colours. Now I already love Sleek Makeup, owning a few of their Sleek Matte Me lipsticks (and wearing them quite often) so I had to give this palette a go.

Colours in order: Innocence, Blade, Gullible, Gun Metal, Underground,Noir, Intoxicated, Envy, Obnoxious, Abyss, Twilight, Rebel. [Forgive the dust they’ve been used quite a bit lately]

Now onto the palette itself. The Bad Girl palette consists of 12 shades, ranging from a pearlised white shade to a deep matte purple, my favourites being “Gullible“, “Underground”, Envy” and “Twilight”.  Each pan of colour holds roughly 1.1g/0.03oz of product giving you a total of 13.5g of eyeshadow, there are a variety of shadows from mattes, to pearlised and some chunkier glitter shadows. They are smooth, blend easily and have great colour payoff without much fallout (however I’d recommend wetting your brush for a bolder look especially with the chunkier glitter shades). When I create my looks with this I don’t use a primer and the colours are still bold and last all day with minimal smudging, I imagine with a primer they’d be even better.

I definitely recommend their palettes the range of shades and types of shadows make this the perfect palette to grab to create a look since you don’t need more than one palette, meaning it’s great for throwing in your bag. The packaging is small, and simple making it easy for storage, mine fits perfectly in my travel makeup bag along with my numerous lipsticks. And if the colours in this palette aren’t to your liking they have plenty more so I’d recommend checking out their site, I’ve got my eyes on Goodnight SweetheartGarden of Eden and  Original.

Sleek Makeup are a cheap, affordable UK brand of makeup that are cruelty free.

Keep an eye on my WatchMeBlather Facebook and WatchMeBlather Twitter for some looks using this palette.

Healthy Basa Noodle Recipe

So I thought it was time to share my and my partners favourite post workout meal, it’s super simple, the ingredients can be interchangeable and it’s very filling.

  • Noodles (any kind I usually use rice noodles but in the image above I used Bachelors supernoodles)
  • Spinach
  • Supersweet sweetcorn
  • Peas
  • Tenderstem brocolli
  • Bell pepper (any colour)
  • Fish (I use Basa fillets)
  • Dressing of your choice. I use soy, lime, ginger but my partner prefers soy sauce.
  • Chilli flakes

  1. Cook the fish as per the instructions. I microwaved my fillets for 5 minutes.
  2. Cook noodles per instructions.
  3. Before the noodles finish cooking, add the vegetables.
  4. When the noodles and vegetables are cooked strain the liquid then add back to the pan (without the heat on)
  5. Flake the fish and mix into the noodles and vegetables.
  6. Add dressing, mix together and plate up.

I have mine paired with either a mixed berry smoothie or a fruit herbal tea, depending on my mood.

Do you have a favourite/preferred post workout meal? If so share below and if you make this please take a photo and tag my facebook page.

[New Series] “You do you: Take care of yourself”

So the year is quickly approaching the end and as it does a few things have been bothering me as of late. So as we start a new month, and we’re one month closer to the new year I’ve decided to create a new series on this blog called “You do you“, each month I will post a blog called “You do you: [insert topic]” where I will be discussing a topic that I feel I need to address. It may be in the style of a journal entry, a discuss, a Q&A or series of tips I want to share.

So without further ado, the first blog of the series:

You do you: Take care of yourself.

Nothing better than a hot cup of coffee in the park whilst watching the squirrels play

So with everything in life it’s easy to become overwhelmed with stress, as I’ve gotten older I’ve realised that although stress is not a choice, there are ways of helping yourself cope. There came a moment in my adult life when it just clicked that a lot of my stresses were caused by my need at that time to please others, so of course it goes without saying that I then decided to STOP TRYING TO PLEASE OTHERSWhen I decided to do this a weight was lifted, now of course it’s not possible to stop trying to please everyone as I’m a university student so therefore there I do need to please some people, however I stopped trying to please those that in my mind are not important to please.

One of the loves of my life: Gypsy, my snugglepuss

DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, something I try to live by everyday. Eat foods you enjoy, watch the shows you enjoy, wear what makes you comfortable, study the degree you want and follow a career that makes you happy. Of course there’s a balance to be struck as responsibility sometimes outweighs your own wants but that’s why I always try to TAKE TIME OUT OF EVERY DAY TO SPEND TIME ON YOU, whether that’s by going for a walk, snuggling a pet or significant other, reading a book or doing something that comforts you and that you enjoy.

Post morning workout breakfast

Along with taking time out every day to de-stress and unwind, I am a big advocate of LOOKING AFTER YOUR BODY TO LOOK AFTER YOUR MIND. Since I started working out 4-5 times a week, eating better and cutting out/down toxic habits such as sodas, caffeine and alcohol I’ve found my mental state is a lot better, of course I’m not perfect I still need to fix my sleep and my anxiety still affects me daily but I’m coping better. Probably the surge of endorphins and the fact that I no longer feel ill because I’m eating better. However another reason I’m feeling better is because finally after years of struggling on my own I decided to seek help for my anxiety and panic attacks. I had always been afraid of people thinking I was weak if I told them about my mental health problem but the best thing I have done and will from on will recommend that if you are struggling, overwhelmed and hurting to TALK TO SOMEONEBe it a doctor, a friend, your significant other, just talk to them.

So that’s the first of the ‘You do you’ series.

My question for you: What do you do to take care of yourself?
